Integration and Test Software Engineer

Spaceflight Industries, Inc. is looking for a software engineer to design, implement, and deploy software to facilitate the integration and test of our components and systems. We are developing complex payload deployment systems for upwards of 80 satellites per launch as well as small, compact remote earth sensing spacecraft.  Spaceflight is rapidly expanding, and we require experienced, creative, and energetic engineers who enjoy working in agile and dynamic environments.

DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION:

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys getting things up-and-running. You will often be one of the first people to work with a new piece of hardware, or system, and will be responsible for getting that system to talk to the rest of the world. Other engineering disciplines will rely on your software to gather data from devices, characterize their response, and ensure that they will be robust enough to survive the space environment. Production technicians will use your tools and procedures to perform acceptance testing of components and command our systems as they progress through assembly and testing processes.  Experience with integrating satellites/payloads is a bonus. You must think rockets are cool, satellites are cooler, and have a good sense of humor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write software to command and receive data from satellite peripherals such as reaction wheels, star trackers, and radios
  • Write software to command avionics and fully integrated systems to enable integrated hardware/software testing
  • Write software to parse and visualize spacecraft telemetry in real-time
  • Develop user interfaces for deployed test systems
  • Develop and maintain tools for data storage and analysis
  • Ensure that our test systems are up-to-date with flight software, including updating test hardware as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors of Science or a greater degree in an engineering discipline
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder) due to government regulation of the space industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office data visualization and plotting tools
  • Experience in C, Python, Matlab, Git, and Linux
