The Electrical Power Systems Engineer will work as part of a team dedicated to specific projects and will perform electrical design engineering for spacecraft by preparing specifications, power distribution architecture, supporting analysis (modeling & simulation), and perform technical management. The responsibilities will also include reporting the status of present work internally with limited external interaction to clients. Some travel (including international) is required. This position requires a motivated candidate that is team-oriented, organized, able to communicate effectively to all levels within the organization and able to meet deadlines in a fast -paced environment.
Work with program management to define budget and schedules based on metrics and past experiences.
Deliver electrical power systems projects that meet technical specifications for the defined budget and schedule.
Participate on project teams that include other engineers, designers, drafters, and technicians.
Perform engineering analyses on power requirements and protection systems.
Specify and select power distribution, conversion, and control components based on project requirements.
Develop drawings of power system (solar arrays, peak power trackers, battery, cables, etc.), grounding schema, and bonding solutions.
Perform system integration, checkout, and commissioning of power systems.
Participate in the creation of proposals and support program management with planning.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical.
5 - 10 years’ experience in spacecraft, industrial, or automotive projects.
Experience with power conversion, distribution, and grounding for low and medium voltage systems.
Engineering software experience in power simulation and analysis tools (SPICE, MatLab, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project documentation skills.
Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and demonstrate effective team building skills.
Experience with maximum peak power tracking of solar arrays in parallel configurations a plus.
Experience with battery systems and charging solutions a plus.
Experience dealing with clients and some business development skills a plus.
Cost account management or project management skills a plus.
Must have valid US passport or able to obtain a passport, and ability to travel.
Local candidates highly preferred for this position.
